Hello Cubberley Families!
I am very excited to be part of the wonderful Cubberley community for the 4th year! I strive to make my classroom a true community where all students feel loved, welcomed, and able to thrive and blossom into their best selves. Social and emotional skills and academics are equally important parts of my curriculum. In Room K1, we learn a lot and have fun doing it! It is my aim that my students look forward to coming to school each day.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I have a son named Matteo and one on the way! I love to travel and have been to almost 20 different countries. My favorite vacation spot is the Big Island of Hawaii. I love sports and staying active. I am a huge San Diego Padres fan and enjoy going to games as often as possible.

I was a student in the SDUSD from K-12 and still talk to my kindergarten teacher! In addition to my Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work, I have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal State Los Angeles.

I love the Cubberley community and feel it is an honor to spend the year with the young learners here. I am looking forward to a great school year!

Greetings Cubberley families and students, My name is Syfah Slaughter I’m an early Childhood Educator and I am teaching in the TK classroom. This is my fourth year of teaching at Cubberley. I’m happy to be part of  a supportive, loving, and strong Cubberley staff and family Community.  Before working at Cubberley, I used to work at  one of the Neighborhood House Association known as HeadStart for more than 10 years.  I attended San Diego City College and majored in Child Development and Social Work. After receiving my associate degrees, I transferred to Union Institute and University online and received a BA in Early Childhood Education and Adolescent Development. I decided to become an early childhood educator because I have passion for early learners. I enjoy supporting them to reach their milestones in cognitive, social, and emotional skills.

I was born in Uganda and I moved to San Diego in my early twenties. I’m a vegan and I enjoy meditating, hiking, doing yoga, and traveling.

I’m committed to supporting each child’s unique abilities, interests, and developmental needs as well as helping them build empathy, self- regulation, and positive relationships.
